David Mareska is Vice President, Discovery Chemistry at OnKure with two dozen years of medicinal chemistry research and management experience in the pharmaceutical industry across several therapeutic areas, including inflammation, metabolic disorders, central nervous system diseases, and oncology. Before joining OnKure in late 2021, Dr. Mareska was the head of chemistry at Knopp Biosciences, overseeing discovery and process chemistry research that resulted in the discovery and development of the Kv7.2/7.3 ion channel activator KB-3061 (now BHV-7000). Prior to Knopp, he worked at Array BioPharma as a medicinal chemist for ten years with increasing roles of responsibility, and contributed to the research of multiple projects that resulted in clinical candidates. Dr. Mareska graduated from Miami University (Oxford, OH) with a BS in Chemistry and from the Pennsylvania State University (State College, PA) with a PhD in Organic Chemistry. He also completed synthetic organic chemistry postdoctoral training with Peter Wipf at the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA).
